Ride for Destiny
UPDATE ON DESTINY RIDE: The weather forecast has changed to what appears to be much heavier rain than originally expected so Bikers Down Society has decided, for the safety of all riders, to postpone the ride until next Saturday, Oct. 6. Everything else remains the same. Long range forecast for next weekend is looking good!
Can’t make the ride? Here is the account information to give to Destiny direct: You can donate to any Scotia Bank – Transit #50203 – Account #0058718-Benefit for Destiny. This way it goes directly to the family.
This beautiful young child needs our help! Her name is Destiny Kemmis and she is 4 yrs old. She lives in Digby, NS. She recently had open heart surgery and requires another one as soon as she she can. In the meantime, her medicine alone is up to $200.00 a month (not counting the trips to the IWK in Halifax or to the Valley Regional Hospital). The family has to pay all these expenses as the Province and her mothers Insurance at work does not pay for it. This little Angel also has NOONAN SYNDROME. She was chosen to come into our lives so that we could indeed help her – because it is The Biker way.
We will be holding a Destiny Ride 2012 on October 6th which will leave from Riding In Style leather 512 Sackville Dr Lr Sackville AND one from Digby. Both rides will meet in Kingston at a location which we will let you know when it is confirmed. Registration is $5 for the ride and a BBQ for us all to meet. Also pledge sheets are available at Riding In Style Leather or you can download one below. All people are welcome – Bikers and non Bikers.
Thank you in advance for your support. This event is Hosted by Bikers Down.
ToadStock 2012 is THIS WEEKEND!
A few ToadStock updates:
The clock is ticking down – only a few more sleeps until the party of the year – Toadstock! We have added a People’s Choice Show ‘n Shine this year from 6-8 on Sat. No cost to enter your bike, voters will make their choice by throwing a loonie (or more) into a can next to your bike so if you really want to win, bring friends with lots of money! The money collected will of course go into the Bikers Down fund but the winner will receive a nice prize! Registration will be at the Toadstock site.
For those of you bringing motorhomes/trailers up on Friday night, please understand that we have to keep things very low key as we have only technically rented the premises for Sat/Sun. We hope to be able to use this site again next year and make it a two night event.
Good news – we checked the website and the NSLC in Middle Musquodoboit (about 1/2 mile from Toadstock site) is open until 9pm on Saturday! Remember there is food available for purchase onsite, and Biker’s Down will be putting on a free pancake breakfast on Sunday, but this is a BYOB affair!
We’ll see you at TOADSTOCK!
We’re looking for items for an upcoming LIVE Auction
The Biker’s Down Society is putting together a live auction and we are looking for donated items to auction off. They don’t necessarily have to be bike-related either. We are looking for quality items to raise money for our great cause. We’re putting the word out there, and are really hoping some of the local and regional Bike Clubs will heed our call.
A total of $12,500 was given out to biker’s in need this year alone! Each year we strive to raise more so we can continue to help our brothers and sisters in need. Remember, Biker’s Down does not discriminate by make or model or club or affiliation. We help ALL biker’s who have been injured in accidents get back on their feet during the hard times after an accident. In fact, one of our recent recipients rides a scooter!
We’d appreciate your support in whatever manner works best for you. Please contact us if you have an auction item to donate, or if you have any other questions about us or our cause. And spread the word! Share, tweet, bookmark, and get in touch!
Biker’s helping biker’s, it’s what we’re all about!

Board of Directors Report, March 8, 2011
Bikers Down Society-Toad Memorial Fund has just completed its third year of operation and has been very well received by the motorcycling community. This year we even added more clubs to help raise money or just volunteer.A special thanks to the Darksiders who helped with the Toad Memorial ride in August as well as raising money for our Society. We have had other clubs donate money and time also and we would like to thank them all.
There were three main functions again in fundraising activities in this fiscal period. They included the
Annual Memorial Dance in March 2010,the 2010 Toad Memorial Poker Run in August 2010 and the draw for the 250 Hyosung motorbike in September at the Wharf Rat Rally.
Once again members and volunteers traveled to numerous events to sell tickets on the bike and t-shirts.
We now also sell t-shirts and all tickets at Riding In Style Leather/Beccas Boutique where the next bike
is on display for all to see and even sit on it.Bikers Down Society along with Riding In Style Leather will
be having a Friday Night Bikers Down bike Night at 528 Sackville Drive starting at a date to be announced from 6-9pm where hot dogs, pop, water, coffee will be available for a donation to help raise awareness and money for the Society.
We will continue to work on our policies to change our bylaws to reflect who we need to become.Bikers Down has had an article written in the Bedford ,Sackville ,Halifax, and Dartmouth community news.We also had coverage on CBC radio with an interview of Bikers Down Chairman Jimi Swinamer.
For the upcoming year we must continue our push for public awareness and government support to make our roads more motorcycle friendly.

This Year’s Winners Announced!
The $500 first prize for the poker run was won by Dusty Larocque, who was here from Ottawa visiting friends in Porter’s Lake.

The worst hand was won by Lloyd (don’t know his last name) who graciously re-donated the $100 prize back to Biker’s Down.
The winner of this year’s 250 Hyosung drawn at the Wharf Rat Rally this past weekend was Anna Ford of Maitland Bridge, NS.
We’d also like to send out a special thank-you to Medric “Seadog” Cousineau for collecting donations for the fund from the magic act he performed around the Digby Waterfront during the Wharf Rat Rally. He collected over approximately $115 for us!
